The Civilization 6 Ethiopia Pack is Out Now23 Jul 2020 0
The Ethiopia Pack for Civilization 6's New Frontier Pass is now live. It can be purchased individually for £3.99/$4.99 if you don't want to subscribe to the whole pass. Full details on what comes in the back are laid out below, the only thing to add is that the new leader to come with the Ethiopian Civilization is Menelik II whose special ability, Council of Ministers, nets extra Culture and Science based on the Faith output of cities founded on Hills.
Original Story: The next pack in Civilization 6’s ‘New Frontier Pass’ now has a release date. The Ethiopia Pack adds the new titular civilisation, as well as a leader to take the helm. It also adds a new district to the game along with a new game-mode. The pack is due for release on July 23rd, 2020.
Ethiopia’s unique ability grants extra faith via international trade routes as well as new ways to spend faith for culture victories. More details on Ethiopia’s mechanics and their leader will be dropping sometime between now and the pack’s release in ten days time.
The new district coming to the game is the Diplomatic Corps, which offers extra culture for each delegation or embassy from a foreign civilisation. It also reduces the level of enemy spies targeting it, or any district adjacent. This district is capped at one per civilisation, it upgrades to the Consulate & the Chancery.
The new game mode is called Secret Societies - you need to have both the Rise & Fall and Gathering Storm expansions in order to access this mode. This summary is from the official press blurb:
This game mode adds four powerful and mysterious Secret Societies to the world, where discovering a Society unlocks a unique Governor with powerful bonuses which players do not need to assign to a city. Once you become a member of a Society, you commit to membership for the rest of the game. Alliances with players who are members of the same Society generate Alliance Points more quickly, and those players will have an improved opinion of you in diplomacy. Players who are members of a different Society, however, will dislike you once they are aware of your affiliation.
Further details on the new societies:
- Owls of Minerva - espionage focused using plots and intrigue to fulfil their goals.
- Hermetic Order - a science-oriented group dedicated to the occult and other ‘weird’ science.
- Voidsingers - a faith-orientate group that worship dark, totally-not-Cthulhu like gods. They have their own unique unit.
- The Sanguine Pact - are military focused, and probably Vampires. They unlock a special combat unit.
Each society has its own special building option that replaces existing buildings with slightly better versions. You can get all the above details and more in the latest developer update video:
This pack will cost £3.99/$4.99 for anyone who hasn't bought into the entire pass, but as a reminder anyone who does purchase the entire pass also gets access to two new alternative personas for leaders Teddy Roosevelt & Catherine de Medici. These offer a new personality as well as new bonuses to anyone playing America or France.
We'll update you with more details on the pack as they come in.
