Strategy Gamer Weekend Bulletin: June 8th, 2019
08 Jun 2019 1We’re always looking for ways to improve here at Strategy Gamer, and one thing we’ve always wanted to do was provide something akin to what our sister sites do, like Wargamer’s Wargamer Weekly or Pocket Tactics’ Weekender updates.
So, welcome to the Strategy Gamer Bulletin, a quick round up of seven news stories from the world of strategy gaming that you may have missed, or that we didn’t get a chance to cover on the site during the week.
We’re trialling this out on weekends because we don’t really post stuff on Sat/Sun at the moments, so it’d be good to fill that gap as well.
Command & Conquer Remaster Pre-Production
Petroglyph, developers of the C&C remake due sometime this year, have confirmed that pre-production for the project is now complete. There’s a complete update available to read on this Reddit thread, along with a teaser looking at the new UI
Paradox joins the Xbox Game Pass for PC
Microsoft recently announced they’re bringing an Xbox Game Pass program to PC. Similar to other such subscription services, it will offer unlimited access to whatever games the publisher can include in the package. One guaranteed partner is Paradox Interactive, who this week mentioned they would be supporting the program from day one.
More information is expected during Microsoft’s E3 2019 briefing tomorrow.
Stellaris Utopia Heads to Console
In other Paradox news, the Console Edition of sci-fi 4X grand strategy game Stellaris will be getting the Utopia expansion on August 13th. Originally released for PC in April 2017, it introduced features such as Megastructures, Ascension Perks and space-based Habitats.
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock Season 2
Having concluded the first ‘Season’ of post-release content earlier this year, dev diaries have resumed once again for the tactical WEGO space strategy game Battlestar Galactica Deadlock. No word on official expansions yet or anything, but another quality of life feature they will be rolling out is the ability to move multiple ships at once during the planning phases.
Chaos are coming to Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2
Our other favourite space-strategy game, Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2, will be getting another content drop on June 24th. The Chaos Campaign will be available as a premium DLC, but there will also be a free update that will add several quality of life improvements and tweaks to all campaigns.
Dota Auto Chess Custom Pass
AutoChess – the hit spin-off game that started as a DOTA 2 Mod, is getting a 1$ Custom Game Pass. It offers various visual and quality of life improvements, but no direct gameplay content other than the right to vote on special chess pieces for balancing purposes. It expires 30 days after purchase.
Scythe: Digital Edition Expands
In case you missed it (because we sure did) the Digital Edition of hit strategy board game Scythe received its first expansion port. Invaders from Afar was originally released for the table-top game back in 2016 but has now been added into the digital version of the game. It adds support for up to 7 players, two new factions and more, for $9.99 / £7.19.
Let us know what you think of this, especially in terms of content, timing, etc… and enjoy the rest of your weekends!
