The (Warp) Beacon Is Lit: Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 Announced

We’ve been wondering what was going to happen with Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, Tinadalos Interactive’s visceral, real-time homage to the original table-top game. There hasn’t been any DLC or significant updates since late 2016, and it would be easy to assume development had largely been abandoned.

Turns out, they were working on the sequel instead. Not a bad tactic, considering how under-whelming the response to the first seemed to be.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada II promises to be bigger and better than its sibling. Right out of the gate, they will be launching with all of the factions that were available in the original table-top game up to its cancellation, which include:

• The Imperial Navy
• Adeptus Mechanicus
• Necrons
• Chaos
• Aeldari Corsairs
• Aeldari Craftworld
• Drukhari
• T’au Merchant & Protecter Fleets
• Orks
• Tyranids

The Necrons and Tyranids will be very interesting to see, and the game itself will be drawing upon the ‘Gathering Storm’ events from the table-top universe that led up to the release of the 8th Edition of the wargame.

Other news in the announcement included “extensive and dynamic campaigns”, as well as drop-in/out co-op:

“With bigger battles, refined gameplay, improved multiplayer modes and features for a better and more balanced online experience, improvements across the board and even more customisation options for fleets and ships, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 promises to be the ultimate Warhammer 40,000 space battle experience.”

The game is due out sometime this year, and we’ll hear more at Focus Home Interactive’s annual press event at the beginning of February.
