Why is the Rum Gone? Total War Warhammer 2 'Aye Aye' Patch Notes Drop

If you don’t already follow it, I’d highly recommend adding the Total War Blog to your chosen RSS feed. It’s easily the best way to get information regarding Creative Assembly and the Total War franchise at large.

Ahead of the release of the Curse of the Vampire Coast DLC tomorrow for Total War: Warhammer II, the full patch notes for the update have been posted on the blog. It’s a pretty mammoth update, all things considered, so we recommend checking out the page yourself as we can only summarise here.

The ‘Aye Aye’ patch focuses mainly on adding the new content to the Mortal Empires campaign for the Vampire Counts, as the free counter-part to the premium DLC which only effects the Vortex campaign:

Vampire Counts factions in Mortal Empires can now awaken powerful Lords of the five ancient Vampire Bloodlines: the Lahmians, the Von Carsteins, the Blood Dragons, the Necrarchs, and the Strigoi.

There have also been a lot of campaign map changes in Mortal Empires, and they’ve even tweaked the order in which factions appear in the select screen (with WH2 factions being favoured over WH1, for example).

Our favourite patch-note is this change in the ‘General Campaign Fixes’ section:

As Warriors of Chaos, awakening a tribe in a region that was under rebellion no longer produces amalgamations of unimaginable horror.

I've always felt I could do with less unimaginable horror in my life.

There’s also been plenty of faction unit/combat changes for the real-time battles, which include Battle Abilities. Apart from the Vampire Counts themselves, Norsca and Lizardman seem to have received the most changes.

Total War: Warhammer II – Curse of the Vampire Coast will release on November 8th. We’ll have our review ready so you can see if it’s for you or not.
