<t>Despite the usual TMP grumblers a spot on assessment! My only quibble would be the escalators of which the up direction seemed to be broken until Saturday night. I day tripped in and was able to park in Steinman garage just across the street even getting in at 11 am on one day! I ran a game (one ...

Re:

The battle description shows perfectly the problems I have with FOG. The winning side in an ancient battle took 30% losses. That would an unusual thing, most pre-gunpowder battles were rather one-sided in losses. If you play any FOG battle and then read an account of the battle on Wikipedia you wil...

<t>As I understand it FOGE has it's own simplified battle system in addition to an auto resolve function. <br/> <br/> Interestingly there has been a lot of grumbling from the FOG2 players about not having the battle export function available in multi-player FOGE. As a practical matter I can see why ...

Re: <t>The Best Napoleonic War Games</t>

Victory and Glory from Slitherine. New ones coming soon include Ultimate Admiral Age of Sail which feature naval battle...

Re: <t>Steel Division 2 Review</t>

Too bad about that. I had hoped that with the emphasis on the single player campaign it would not be as clicky. I found SDN44 hard to manage at slower speeds and this one has bigger maps. The General mode did sound good though. AP - I would suggest trying Armored Brigade. I know RTS too but you can ...

<t>While Matrix is selling us games let's not forget the reasons we mark this day - "The Day of Days". <br/> Ask any veteran that they'll tell you that the heros are still there above Omaha underneath white crosses. Of cource we also remember the few remaining who came through that day 75 years ago....

Great review. For similar reasons to you I don't have cold war minis, although the game sounds fun. I did pick up Armored Brigade though. Couldn't resist since the Fulda map has my deployment area on it!

I would also say that Wolves with the shieldwall infantry based armies brings a bit of the ancient phalanx back in contrast to the early dark ages warbands.
