Well done review. For now I'll stick with Hewwar's games in mobile format. I enjoyed their Peninsular War title for mobile.

<t>I too have recently been digging through some of my old SPI games. I found one disadvantage to the flat counter tray style box that SPI was known for; The glue dries up on the cardboard backing on the counter tray and it comes right off. Wonder how much Noble Knight deducts for that?<br/> <br/> N...

<r>If you do a list for the desktop publishing crowd I would recommend adding "The Perfect Captain" although the artwork on the rules, cards and counters of the various games could well be professionally done. A variety of rules for different periods are available (my favorites are Hoplomachia (Pelo...

<t>Bill I am waiting for this one to go EA on Steam before jumping in. Since I have actually played with miniature ships on the real Olympia my preference is for the early end of the timeline. The part for Pre-Dreads and Dreadnoughts as the title suggests. If you peruse the Game Labs forum you'll fi...

Excellent review. I have not had a chance to play yet but will soon. I did play a game of ESR this past weekend, giving a much more operational level feel to a Napoleonics game than BM though.

<t>Thanks for the shout out Bill. Very nice write up. Little did I know I would have to sprint to the dealer hall as soon as I got to the convention to pick up the "Bataille Empire" rules! Of course at the time I hadn't pulled out my compass and map to figure out where it was located. As it turned o...

Bill - Bataille Empire is available now and I believe On Military Matters has it. Will find out in a few days at Fall In.

That bomber game is reminiscent of the old AH B-17 game.

<t>Excellent commentary Colonel. I at one time spent time in a Btn TOC in Germany (As HHC XO I had responsibility to set it up). Now you have me wondering why they couldn't have used the real 1:50,000 maps in the game!!<br/> <br/> Another thought I had was for the modern warfare this may not work be...

<r>Bill:<br/> <br/> Nice list - especially "The Admiral" !<br/> <br/> When I started sailing on a square rigged ship the captain recommended Harland's book to the crew. It is an excellent reference. Just to add several suggestions for US history:<br/> <br/> Ian Toll's "Six Frigates" is an excellent ...

This reminds me of the old AH game: Kingmaker. We used to use that game as a campaign setting for table top miniatures.
