Even if you are a dedicated Total War fan, you could be forgiven for missing the arrival of the newest entry in the series: Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai.

30 € for the stand alone game when on most online stores Shogun II complete is available for € 10 € ?!

No surprise there are negative reviews.

Not that I'm excusing the new premium price-point, but I'm pretty sure FOTS has always been a stand-alone expansion. When it first came out you could buy it without owning Shogun II and still play it on its own.

Still correct today, Shogun II base game is not required.

A standalone expansion to Total War: Shogun 2. The campaign begins in the year 1864 and covers the events that led up to the Meiji Restoration, namely the Boshin War, which saw Imperial rule returned to the country after over 600 years. During the Meiji Restoration the encroachment of Western colonial powers caused growing resentment, forcing Japan to modernise and industrialise, leading to increasingly militant nationalism and eventually resulting in the abolishment of the traditional Samurai-based feudal system.

But it will become harder to find the dlc as many stores remove it to avoid this :
