Matrix Games Announces New Military Simulation & CMANO successor - Command: Modern Operations

Tue Sep 03, 2019 3:02 pm

I’d been hearing rumours about a ‘Command 2’ since just before Matrix/Slitherine sold us to Network N.

Support for real-time Tacview 3D view (NOTE: separate purchase of Tacview Advanced edition required)
Hmm.

This is exciting news. I let CMANO pass me by because I just wasn't sure about it at that price. With a sequel I'm sure the first one will drop in price and the second will be an even better game.

For those like me not sure what Tacview is from Kolbex's post, Google says it's a flight data analysis program and is 70 dollars for an Advanced Edition license. I'm kinda fascinated by what it might do to enhance the game.

There is a basic, but free version, available of Tacview (https://www.tacview.net/features/comparison/en/).
You can also try out the free trial for the full version for 21 days and like most stores there are sales (end of last june price was 50% off).

Tacview is most usefull in combat flight sims like Digital Combat Simulator to review the action (or view in real time in the advanced edition).
For beginners (like me) this shows you who shot you down.

A small example might explain more (tacview combat review around minute 5) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFF3hnvkcOI.

I fear that with larger scenarios in CMANO 2 things might get crowded on screen.
