So Vlad is dead at the start of Franz's Rein, here's how the story goes according to the entire end times book series !SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
Firstly Arkhan and Manfred buddy up to revive Nagash, they succeed after sacrficing, The fey Enchantress, The daughter of Tyrion and Allarielle and Volkmar the grim plus a few others, Nagahs then resurects Vlad because Vlad is superior to Manfred in near every way.
The empire is ravaged by the magotkin of nurgle, Karl Franz falls in an early battle to the north, crawls his way back to Altdorf as it falls, he is killed again and is then resurrected as Sigmar incarnate.
The Dark Elves, led by malekith leave Naggarond and assault the isle, Teclis betrays his brother, Caledor and the dragon princes do the same for some bribes in the form of dragon eggs from Malekith. Malekith is reborn as the true incarnate of the god Asyuran and Tyrion gets possesed by the sword of Khaine. Teclis ennacts a plan to force the power of the winds of magic into incarnates creating demi-gods and giving sigmar (Karl) his true powers, NAgahs steals the wind of death before this happens.
Queek Takes Eight peaks, then gets bonked by the combined forces of Ungrim (Possesed By the element of fire) Bugmann the mythical brewer and the Grudgebearer.
All holds fall middenheim is taken by chaos and the one thought to sigmars chosen Valten dies to a verminlord assasination whilst fighting Archaon (Also some really good books pick those up) All of the incarnates bar the winds of beasts are gathered in the last stronghold of non- chaos force the kings glade, Belakor fucks with them and Teclis is forced to teleport all the Incarnates to middenheim to attempt to prevent then end of the world by what is basically a chaos planet nuke, the incarnates are gathered, they attampt to stop Archaon and fail, world ends.
Then age of sigmar starts. Only just started reading those not past first book yet but awesome so far.
Basically, Vlad is dead but shouldnt be in these games but creative assembly needed some new vamp lords and he fit the bill.
