Thu Jul 13, 2017 11:45 am

Diablo came out in 1996 and defined the hack-and-slash, action RPG genre. It featured real-time, fast-paced combat, a focus on gear, and lots of options to build and customize your...

I just got my hardcore necromancer to 70. I might give Titan Quest a go as I haven't played it in well over a decade.

Did you guys check out Exiled Kingdoms?
It's not relatively new,but it was updated in May and will get another update this month.

I'm in level 6 right now,it's a very good Diablo-esque game, with dialogue choices and surprisingly a great story.
It have some drawbacks like the ugly interface and visual monotony, but it is a good game made by just one person.

Here's my take in iOS Titan Quest. Wow, nice Diablo clone, nice graphics, nice faux-Greek setting, I'm killing things left and right, there's loot dropping, I'm getting levels and new powers, oh this is well worth the seven bucks. Wait, what's this? The game froze? No problem, I'll re-launch the app. Hey, what happened to my character? I had level 18, now the save shows level 6.

If you like to randomly lose hours of gameplay, this is the game for you! Read the app store reviews (which I should have) - tons of people complaining about corrupted saves and crashing and zero developer response.

Titan Quest (Review)
Developer: Dot Emu
The mobile version of the game has had plenty of issues—including frame rate and saved game issues—but it is still one of the better Diablo-like titles.

My understanding of iOS Titan Quest is that the DotEmu version that Pocket Tactics reviewed in 2016, with 4/5 stars, is no longer available on the Apple app store. On the Apple app store the iOS version is now a HandyGames mobile app that was released November 7th, 2018, and appears to be actively supported.

I'm not up to speed on all the THQ bankruptcy, liquidation, asset sales, and history, but the Darksiders franchise seems to have been successfully resurrected with the current THQ Nordic, based out of Austria. Somewhat similarly, it's my understanding that THQ Nordic has invested in the Titan Quest IP they also acquired, as well, to include on mobile the rights reverting back to them from the DotEmu port and so moving to their THQ Nordic subsidiary, HandyGames, for the Titan Quest mobile port. I've heard nothing but good things about HandyGames, to include their Titan Quest mobile support, on iOS so I'd enjoy reading a review of the current Titan Quest iOS mobile version.

How the Android version is faring after the transition from DotEmu to HandyGames I have not heard, just good things about iOS and HandyGames there.

Thanks for the heads up Falk - I will look into this ASAP and update the guide as needed.

In perhaps somewhat similar news to the "new" HandyGames Titan Quest iOS app in the Apple app store, Supergiant Games has announced that "our distribution agreement with Warner Bros., our publishing partner for Bastion since we first launched the game in 2011, is expiring. (Back then, we didn't expect we'd still be supporting Bastion all these years later...!) Due to technical limitations, we cannot switch publishers for the existing app. Our only option was to work with Warner Bros. to delist the existing version, then publish the game ourselves."
